I’m Peter S. Drang, and you’ve never heard of me.
I sold a handful of short stories long ago. I took a fifteen year break from writing because I had a business to run and kids to raise. The kids are now grown up; I sold the business.
I decided to dive back in and joined one of the major online writer’s workshops. At first it was just for fun.
But then something weird happened.
Some people in the workshop started telling me they loved my stories and couldn’t wait for me to post new ones. I had fans! Huh. Some of those fans were even accomplished writers with scads of pro sales.
I decided to really commit to writing, and I set myself a lofty goal. I want to write 50 mind-blowing short stories in the year 2019. If that sounds like a lot of stories to write, essentially one per week, you’re right. It’s ludicrous. Go big or go home.
Take this ride with me! I’ll post my successes, my failures, my process, and an ebook collection of my stories quarterly. I’ll also post some stories publicly as samples (ones that have already been published). I’ll have some other goodies too, stay tuned.
There’s good stuff here if you’ve been thinking about writing science fiction or fantasy professionally. Watch a career start from nearly the ground up, learn from my successes and failures. I’ll even keep an up-to-date list of what I’ve got out there in slush piles and discuss slush strategy!
Or, just stick around to read some cool fiction. I write science fiction (don’t call it sci-fi please, use SF), and sometimes fantasy or horror.
Welcome aboard!
